Education and Workforce Development: Facilitating Educational
Opportunities
Recognizing that educational opportunities are a path to success, Valero has partnered with
several agencies committed to ensuring that children and adults have the knowledge, skills,
training and resources to help them thrive.
Memphis, Tennessee – Through the Bene昀椀t for
Children program, Valero has donated more than
$650,000 for students at the Soulsville Foundation where
music education and performance opportunities enrich
Memphis’ youth.
Dumas, Texas – Valero replaced a van for the Dumas
Discovery Center to provide safe transportation for their
students to and from school and for special 昀椀eld trips.
Texas City, Texas – Valero funded a new welding plasma
table at Santa Fe High School for the nearly 200 students
enrolled in the Career & Technical Education Welding and
Ag Mechanics program.

Three Rivers, Texas –
Over the past decade,
Valero and the Valero Bene昀椀t for Children have
contributed more than $500,000 for educational
causes in the Three Rivers area. These investments
provided teachers with grants to enhance
technology, enrich curricula and create more
engaging learning environments.
Wilmington, California – Valero purchased STEMrelated books about ocean life for the Cabrillo
Marine Aquarium and Valero volunteers read
to 3,000 children during “Read Across America
Month.”
Healthcare: Helping Our Communities Have Access
Valero has partnered with numerous healthcare initiatives in its communities to provide access
to programs, clinical screenings, new state-of-the-art medical equipment and other resources
that help promote health and well-being. Some examples include:
Ardmore, Oklahoma – Valero donated $75,000 at JD
McCarty Center, Oklahoma’s only medical facility for
children with developmental disabilities.
Dumas, Texas – Valero has provided a total of $580,000 at
Moore County Hospital to fund lifesaving equipment such
as dialysis and nephrology resources, two EKG machines,
nine vital sign monitors, 3D digital mammography
technology and advanced lab equipment.
Lakota and Hartley, Iowa – Valero funded the acquisition
of the Lund University Cardio-Pulmonary Assist Systems
(LUCAS), a portable, mechanical device that delivers
automatic, consistent chest compressions to patients in
cardiac arrest.
Port Arthur, Texas – Valero continues to fund the
Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas that provide
much-needed equipment and resources including
specialized NICU beds, children’s wheelchairs and staff
training.

Foundation to improve the quality of
healthcare, transforming the psychiatry unit
and modernizing the seniors’ health-care unit.
San Antonio, Texas – Through the
Valero Bene昀椀t for Children (BFC)
program, Valero supported Kinetic Kids’ iCan
Bike Camp, a nonpro昀椀t dedicated to providing
adaptive sports for children with special
needs.
Mexico City, Mexico – Valero participated in
a breast prosthesis program called “Soy Rosa
IMSS” (Mexican Social Security Institute) to
support women undergoing mastectomies.
