Our global workforce is strengthened by opportunities

Valero prioritizes internally developed, role relevant
learning over third party content, allowing development
to directly support Valero’s operations, culture and
expectations.
ROLE-SPECIFIC PROGRAMS
Our learning model emphasizes relevance, shared
ownership and alignment with operational needs. By
leveraging internal expertise, Valero delivers practical,
credible training that re昀氀ects the realities of our
business. Leaders across the organization help de昀椀ne
learning objectives, identify skill gaps and contribute
functional expertise to support employee development.
Re昀椀nery Basic Operator Training (BOT) – This 10-week,
re昀椀nery-based program lays the foundation for a safe
and successful career in operations. By leveraging
internal subject matter experts
and experienced employees as

program prepares newly hired ethanol plant operators
for success by teaching them to safely monitor, operate
and troubleshoot units in their assigned areas.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
Supervisor Toolkit – Designed to prepare new supervisors
for their role, including a 12-month road map to develop
essential skills, build strong teams, ensure an inclusive work
environment and understand their own leadership style.
Frontline and Beyond Frontline – Builds essential skills for
managing and leading others, including a year-long cohort
learning experience with an executive leader coach.
Re昀椀nery Supervisor Development – Customized
curriculum designed to reinforce expectations of 昀椀eld
leaders to build strong teams and drive operational
excellence.
Additional Support – Leadership transition guide,
extraordinary leaders program and performance
management resources.
Across the company, training and development are
rooted in continuous improvement. Beginning Day 1,
employees have access to onboarding programs and
learning resources that support knowledge building
and future leadership development. These include:

(PTECH) degrees and provides hands-on
training through the re昀椀nery basic operator
training (BOT) program. For many in the BOT
class, Valero is their 昀椀rst re昀椀nery job.
